Cambodia Prime Minister Welcomes Australian Investment at Business Forum

Melbourne, Australia - Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet urged Australian investors to explore investment opportunities in Cambodia during the Cambodia-Australia Business Forum. The forum, co-organized by the Cambodian Chamber of Commerce and the Victorian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, brought together 350 investors and 350 companies.

During his address, the Prime Minister reflected on the longstanding relationship between Cambodia and Australia, which spans nearly seven decades. He acknowledged Australia's instrumental role in Cambodia's peace process and its substantial contributions to the country's development post the Paris Peace Accords, particularly in infrastructure, education, and agriculture sectors.

Furthermore, Hun Manet spotlighted the attractive investment opportunities within Cambodia, emphasizing the potential for lucrative returns driven by the government's investor-friendly policies, strategic geographical advantages, and beneficial trade agreements with other nations that expand market access for products.

He warmly invited Australian investors to visit Cambodia and personally assess the myriad of investment opportunities available. The Prime Minister assured a cordial welcome for Australian investors interested in exploring the Cambodian market.

The forum also witnessed the signing of significant Memoranda of Understanding (MOUs) aimed at fostering trade, investment, and economic cooperation between Cambodia and Australia. These agreements include a partnership between the Cambodian Chamber of Commerce and the Victorian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and another between the Association of Innovation and Development Investors and La Vie Hospitality Group to boost investment in tourism.

This business forum is poised to serve as a crucial platform for the Cambodian government to showcase the country's investment potential, incentives, and facilitation measures. It also aims to foster a deeper understanding and create more investment opportunities between the private sectors of Cambodia and Australia.
